What is the Somfy Eolis 3D Wirefree RTS Wind Sensor?

The Somfy Eolis 3D Wirefree RTS Wind Sensor is an advanced, wireless device designed to protect your RTS (Radio Technology Somfy) awning from wind damage. It utilizes sophisticated 3D detection technology to monitor wind speed and direction, automatically retracting your awning when unsafe conditions are detected. This protection mechanism minimizes wear and tear on your awning while ensuring its longevity. It's particularly effective for users in areas prone to sudden gusty winds.

How does the 3D detection technology work?

The 3D detection technology in the Somfy Eolis 3D Wind Sensor works by analyzing wind conditions from multiple angles to accurately assess the wind's speed and direction. This allows the sensor to differentiate between normal wind gusts and dangerous conditions that could damage your awning. The sensor can respond quickly, retracting the awning before damage occurs, providing dependable protection created for various weather scenarios, enhancing your outdoor comfort.

Is the Somfy Eolis 3D Wind Sensor compatible with Sun Setter Awnings?

Yes, the Somfy Eolis 3D Wind Sensor is fully compatible with Sun Setter Awnings that use Radio Technology Somfy (RTS). This compatibility ensures that you harness the sensor's advanced features to enhance the protective capabilities of your awning. By integrating these systems, you can enjoy automated control over your outdoor setup, making it easier to manage your awning's safety from wind damage while maximizing your outdoor enjoyment.

How is the wind sensor powered?

The Somfy Eolis 3D Wind Sensor is powered by batteries, ensuring hassle-free installation without the need for wiring or complex setups. This battery-powered design allows for hassle-free placement wherever necessary, whether mounted on a wall or placed on a flat surface nearby. The independence from electrical outlets makes it highly flexible and practical for various outdoor setups, providing reliable wind monitoring wherever you may need it.

Can I install the Eolis 3D Wind Sensor myself?

Yes, the Somfy Eolis 3D Wind Sensor is designed for easy self-installation, requiring no special tools or expertise. The unit comes with comprehensive instructions for mounting and setup, allowing homeowners to integrate it seamlessly with their existing RTS awning system. The Somfy Eolis 3D Wind Sensor is constructed from high-grade, weather-resistant materials designed to withstand various outdoor conditions. This ensures durability and reliable performance, regardless of the climate. Its robust build means that it can function effectively for extended periods, making it an ideal choice for anyone looking to maintain their awning's functionality and appearance amid changing seasons and weather challenges.

What is the optimal placement for the wind sensor?

For the best performance, the Somfy Eolis 3D Wind Sensor should be positioned at least 3 feet away from buildings or obstructions, ensuring an unobstructed view of wind patterns. Mounting it at a height of around 5 to 10 feet is ideal for accurate readings. Proper placement will enable the sensor to function effectively, allowing for timely retraction of the awning in adverse wind conditions, ultimately maximizing your outdoor space's usability.

Does the sensor work in all weather conditions?

The Somfy Eolis 3D Wind Sensor is designed to perform effectively in a variety of weather conditions, including rain and moderate wind. However, it is important to note that, while the sensor is highly reliable, extreme weather conditions such as heavy storms and hurricanes may require additional precautions. somfy Accessories Editorial Review

The Somfy EOLIS 3D sensor is a wind sensor that can close an awning when it senses wind to prevent damage to the awning or property. The device is easy to install and can be programmed easily using a Somfy remote. The device is compatible with all awnings that use a Somfy RTS motor. The EOLIS 3D sensor is not suitable for retracting patio screens as the wind might not move the shade enough to activate it. The device will retract the awning automatically when given any information about stronger winds, but there is a built-in time delay before it can be extended again. Overall, the response from customers is positive, with most rating their experience with the product as good or excellent. However, some customers had trouble getting the device to work and had difficulty contacting Somfy customer support.
