The B7's size is larger than previous models from Hokema, and its three rows of tines deliver a range of notes, including three subtle low notes, three medium ones, and one bright one. The kalimba can be a great instrument to play alone or with other C-pentatonic instruments. It is easy to play, portable, and resistant. However, the instrument is unresonated and has low volume, so it might not be ideal for group performances. The kalimba's sound is not easy to hear with other people in the room, so it might not be a good choice for people who need an instrument with a louder volume. Moreover, it does not come with a case.
