Jewish Editorial Review
The Jewish War is a fascinating book for anyone interested in ancient history and culture, particularly regarding the events surrounding the destruction of ancient Jerusalem and the Second Temple by the Romans. Josephus, the indigenous author, provides a detailed and first-hand account of the Jewish War against the Roman Empire that lasted for a few years. The book is fast-paced, action-packed and full of vivid tales of daring do, which makes it a great read for fans of heroic fantasy. Chapter 17 'Factions in Jerusalem' is a great place to start reading the book. The siege of Jerusalem is truly horrifying, and the book lays bare the politics and power struggle within Jerusalem itself. The book is incredibly detailed, providing a deeper understanding of the Jewish struggle against the Roman Empire.
