Action & Adventure Editorial Review
**Editorial Review**: "Logan" has set itself apart from the myriad of superhero films by embracing a darker, more adult-oriented narrative that caters to a different audience than the traditional family-friendly comic book movie. This film offers a raw and gritty portrayal of iconic characters like Wolverine and X-23, stripped of the usual heroic tropes. Instead of saving cities or fighting for justice, the protagonists are immersed in personal struggles, facing their mortality and grappling with their violent natures. The film shatters the expectations surrounding superhero storytelling, opting for a grounded approach where moral complexities are handed off seamlessly, allowing viewers to engage with deeper themes without overt moralism. The character interactions are notably realistic, prompting an emotional response that resonates authentically with the audience. While the violence and language might deter some, many appreciate the unapologetic portrayal as refreshing, particularly in contrast to the polished but often uninspired offerings in the genre. The noir version of "Logan," included as a Blu-Ray extra, has garnered praise for beautifully complementing the film's mood. Despite its placed brutality, the film manages to weave humor into its narrative, reflecting the complexities of the characters and their situations. Hugh Jackman and Dafne Keen's performances are standout elements, as they bring life to characters that feel both fragile and formidable. "Logan" offers not just a conclusion to Wolverine's chapter but also opens up a discussion about the potential for future stories in this darker tone, suggesting that Hollywood might benefit from recognizing the value of targeting adult audiences without compromising on storytelling quality.
