- L'objecte d'aprenentatge de la classe de llengua és el desenvolupament de les destreses discursives de l'alumnat, és a dir, de la capacitat de comprendre i d'expressar-se oralment i per escrit en situacions de comunicació ben diversificades. Aquesta concepció de l'aprenentatge de la llengua ha dut a l'aula els enfocaments discursius i comunicatius, que prenen l'ús lingüístic com a eix de la programació. Ara bé, ús discursiu i reflexió gramatical han d'anar de la mà; els usos formals de la llengua -els propis de les relacions institucionals i acadèmiques- exigeixen un coneixement explícit dels mecanismes lingüístics que permeten, d'una banda, la construcció de textos adequats i ben cohesionats -els continguts propis de la gramàtica del discurs-, i de l'altra, la construcció d'oracions correctes gramaticalment. És aquest últim aspecte de l'aprenentatge lingüístic -la correcció gramatical i normativa- el que s'aborda al llarg d'aquesta Gramàtica pràctica del valencià. La Gramàtica pràctica del valencià s'adreça als aprenents que ja són capaços d'escriure en valencià, però que no han assolit el nivell de correcció exigible en acabar l'ensenyament obligatori. És un material útil, tant per a l'aprenent adult que necessita resoldre autònomament mancances sobre la normativa lingüística en la seua formació, com per a l'alumnat de quart d'ESO o batxillerat que necessita repassar i sistematitzar continguts treballats en cursos anteriors. El material està dissenyat per a ser treballat autònomament i és un bon instrument, doncs, per a atendre la diversitat que hi ha a les aules. El professor de 4t d'ESO o de batxillerat no té prou hores de classe per a dedicar-les a repassar continguts propis de cursos anteriors; però és indubtable que la majoria de l'alumnat encara no els domina i, per tant, necessita recursos, com aquest material, per a poder assolir-los. El llibre té una finalitat didàctica i, per això, selecciona aquells continguts de tipus ortogràfic, morfosintàctic i lèxic que poden presentar més dificultats, especialment pel que fa a les interferències produïdes pel contacte dels parlants amb el castellà.
